“Well I don’t like it. Get out!”
“Sure thing, no problem. Just tell me how?”
“I’m insane. I might as well sign myself into the asylum. It’s from those monsters at school. I knew they’d do me in.”
“You aren’t insane—a bit silly maybe, but not crazy. So stop thinking it. We have to put our heads together and figure a way out of this mess you got us into.”
“Our heads are together, you idiot, and I’ll think any bleedin way I want to. Heavens, listen to me. See what you’ve done—I’ve never talked to anyone like that before in my life. You’ve gone and made me dreadfully testy.”

Sometimes life tosses the most interesting experiences into our path. This is the case with the main characters in "He's Her" -- though their experience might be a tad more "interesting" than the types we live through! Who would think that a simple seat in a cemetery and a single rose could toss two people's lives into a tailspin, and yet bring a lifetime of love to them both?
"He's Her" is a fun read, with a few twists and turns that make the characters endearing and even the gruff Rhett worms his way into the reader's heart. I was invested in these characters and couldn't wait to see the end! I look forward to reading the other stories in the Vicarage Bench series -- do yourself a favor and pick up this fun, quick read.

Rhett Parks came to England to bury his father. A wealthy casino owner, all he is looking for is a little alone time when he sits on a park bench outside of the vicarage. The woman who walks up beside him to pluck a rose is attractive enough, but he’s way too concerned with his own issues to bother with her right now. His chivalrous side wins out when she pricks her finger and drops the rose, but when he reaches to retrieve the flower for her, he too jabs himself. Unlike her, he passes out … and wakes up sharing the mind and body of the young woman.
Carrie Temple does not appreciate having a strange American rattling around in her head. He’s pushy and rude and way too used to having his own way. With Rhett’s body in a coma and with no apparent means by which to wake him up, Carrie and Rhett appear to be stuck with each other, however. Can they work together to find a means to end their strange situation? And why does Carrie feel like she’s falling in love with this man when there is no body attached to him for her to love?
Mimi Barbour’s story He’s Her is book two in the Vicarage Bench series. This is a stand-alone novella, but readers may find that they enjoy it more if they read She’s Me first. I, however, did not read the previous story first, and this story was still enjoyable for me.
He’s Her lends a new definition to the term “cerebral love,” since the two main characters fall in love while cohabitating in one body. This is a sweet romance with just a touch of sensuality to it, and all love-making is mental and “spiritual” instead of physical. Perhaps I am somewhat jaded, but the spiritual aspect of the love-making didn’t really work for me and reminded me just a little too much of the series romances of the 70s and 80s. The relationship between Rhett and Carrie is still very enjoyable to watch unfold, and Ms. Barbour has done a very effective job making their interactions both interesting and entertaining. Rhett professes to be selfish and abrupt, yet he shows surprising insight when dealing with Carrie and her issues. Carrie is a very repressed character, but with Rhett acting as her coach and mental cheering section, she finally grows a backbone. Romance fans are bound to enjoy this novella. Assuming that there will be a third story in this series, I personally am curious as to how Ms Barbour is going to continue the theme and whether she can keep it as fresh and unique as He’s Her undoubtedly is.
