Do you know Jesus? That is the question all Christians will ask when attempting to engage an non-believer in conversation. Referring to Jesus Christ on a first name basis indicates a certain level of friendship. We refer to friends, close co-workers, and family on a first name basis. Other people we address them by their surname or last name. Yet is that true for the average believer in modern Christianity? None of us has physically met Jesus. Should we refer to him as Mr. Christ? Jesus’ love for mankind is what breaks through this social custom. Knowing Jesus makes a follower feel like a close friend. It also makes us feel like a part of his family. Makes you wonder though, “How well does the Christian today know Jesus?”
We live in a society that is increasingly hostile to Christians and people of every faith. America has become a nation where public school students are prohibited from praying in school, acknowledging their dependence upon God, and forming religious clubs. American society has openly challenged its schools and communities from displaying nativity scenes, the Ten Commandments, and other symbols of our religious and moral heritage.
