Excerpt

The thriller takes place in Nashville, TN which focuses on Theresa Holleman and her seemingly charmed life. On the outside, it appears that she has everything a woman could want; a handsome attorney husband, wealth, and an exciting job on Music Row.

However, Theresa is battling demons from her past as she deals with hereditary mental illness from her mother and the long lasting effects of growing up with an abusive step-father. While enduring time in a mental hospital, she finally uncovers the biggest secret of hr life.

This book targets an audience that enjoys thrillers along with comedic moments. The book is focused primarily on one woman’s struggle for her sanity and feeling of helplessness. Women will find this character to be one they identify with on a personal level, as most women have a career, husband and unresolved secrets or issues from the past.

While this novel is unique due to the subject matter and geographic location, it does liken itself somewhat to John Grisham novels. That is, most of his thrillers are set in a southern town with a legal plot. Glittering Secrets takes place in a southern town with a psychological theme.

Professional Reviews

IF YOU READ ONLY 1 BOOK THIS YEAR...MAKE IT THIS ONE!,
By Matt G. "Proud Dad" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews April 26, 2006

Glittering secrets has everything that a lover of mystery, drama, suspense, and film noir could ask for. The descriptive scenarios conjured by Ms. Simpson will take your imagination to new and darker places, while creating, in your mind, vivid pictures of the troubled and disturbing world of a woman that you will soon know all too well.

Without giving away the "secrets," I would suggest that you clear your schedule on a rainy day or a dark evening and turn off your phone. You won't want to be disturbed by anyone...the story is "disturbing enough." When you sit down with this book, you won't be able to stop reading until the very last page.

Taryn Simpson tells quite a story!
Taryn Simpson tells quite a story in her 60 page paperback, "Glittering Secrets"...this book is about Theresa Holleman and her marriage, money, a mental health facility, and a conniving stepfather. Holleman, who works in Nashville's music industry, is finding her blinding headaches are leading her into a new world, or so she thinks.

Simpson succeeds in carrying through several plots to their juncture at the end of this..story...overall, the book is interesting as well as entertaining

THE MOST SPELLBINDING BOOK I'VE READ IN YEARS!
THE MOST SPELLBINDING BOOK I'VE READ IN YEARS!
This is a book that is meant to be a film. Every character is so vivid. I was absolutely engrossed in the plot and was absolutely spell binding. The pace was very fast and characters were very strong. The surprise ending just floored me! I can usually predict the end, but not with Glittering Secrets!!! Fast pace and a quick read. Couldn't put it down!!!
