Meet Frank Slater, a moneylender's collector in the Hulme area of Manchester. Frank is nineteen, and has come into some money by stripping some lead from an old building. With the money, he buys a suit, a suit of material never seen before, It's a suit with a difference, maybe with magical qualities. This is the tale of the suit's first night out on the town, with Frank in it of course. Frank's task this night is to collect a large amount of money from a gangster, when everything goes wrong, that can go wrong. Frank trails the gangster all over Manchester, to all the shady places, meeting all the dodgy people around. Frank and the suit, wished thay had stayed at home. It's 1959, and the tale is full of places that existed then. Some real people have walk on parts. Most it is fiction, or is it? Full of adult themes, and just a little violence. Mostly tinged with lots of  humour.
