If you are the god of your own creations then isn't that god who hears and answers your all your entreaties to a divine being?  This book is a look inside the deeper aspects of our existence and a way to add comfort to our yearning souls that look out into the great beyond for solace. This is a book about you; about all of us as we search for the truth of life and our place in it.  Excerpt The nature of ego is to consume daily bread and as much more as it possibly can. Ego would have us guard against our past and prepare for the future by gathering to it all that it can. The more we gather the greater our protection from the unknowns in life. In fact, the nature of ego is to consume everything in its path, taking no thought for anything at all. In its ravenous appetite for identity, it loses its ability to appreciate the bread supplied right now – this day, this moment. Looking behind or beyond today inhibits our ability to see “today” and today is all there is. Daily bread is the only connection to the world we should have. The connection should be light and simple and never outside the day. Touch the world lightly – no more than a days worth. Daily bread is a way of expressing that we need to let go of whatever it is that drives us to anything beyond this precious moment we are living right now. The things worth seeking are always nearest to us. They are not suspended out in space or time, waiting to be plucked by the competitive, helter-skelter, egoic life we have adopted that looks for abundance somewhere beyond the current day. “Give us this day” and live this day and you will have abundance not comprehensible through eyes that have been conditioned to see beyond this day. We always have enough for the day.

I AM (Listening)
In "Are You Listening?" the author explains his beliefs about God. Placed in the Christian context and of Bible quotes, arguments for or against specific beliefs are developed respectfully, with courage and consideration. As evidenced by daily news, religion doesn't always come in this thoughtful and rational way. At the opposite end of the spectrum, cowards are asking the "Are You Listening?" question with a gun pointed to your head. Sadly, the gun happy are unlikely to pick up a copy of Carl's book ... but if reviews of Carl's book over the next hundred years moves just one of them to pick up a copy anyway, I say let's review like crazy. It's a great book for anyone looking to develop their spiritual muscle.

If God is Within Me-Who Do I Pray To
Carl addressed a "hard to get your mind around" premise - that God is not out there, He is part of us.

So, who am I praying to? Myself? It's a nice thought except how powerful can my prayer be if I am praying to myself?

Long ago, I realized I did not have to go to a church of any kind to pray. I realized that God was not in any one place. He was everywhere.

I think it is a great thought but I have to get used to the whole idea. So I am going back to read this book a few more times. Maybe it will sink in.

Maybe we are all more powerful than we think. I am starting to like that idea.

An Enlightening Exploration of Our Inner Divinity
The Author utilizes the Lord's Prayer to reveal the nature of divinity and makes us aware of our divine inner self our soul and its divinity within our spirituality. This is an excellent inspirational exploration the complex and for some controversial subject, "We are Gods." It makes us contemplate and explore the nature of divinity and the God within us. I particularly enjoyed Carl philosophical precise explanations using the ego as a counter point to truth; the ego obstructs us from being the God that dwells within us. Illuminating!
