The unforgiving wind blew across wide gray skies. Tumbleweeds danced lightly across the graveyard. Rose shivered and clutched her gray cloak tightly around her body while she watched Ian's coffin being lowered into the cold, hard earth. Father O'Reilly glanced up from the bible he was quoting. "Do you have anything to say, Mrs. O'Conner?"

Her best novel so far!
This book is an enjoyable, quick read. I found it difficult to put down. The main character, Rose, was such a delightful woman even though her struggles were many. I found myself cheering her on!
The author's dialogue, once again, is amazing and her ability to keep your interest is commendable. Catherine's extensive research of the Virginia City area and the Gold Rush era are very evident in the storyline. I'm from the same area and I could vividly picture the scene she was setting. Great job! Comstock Rose is a must read.
