Hamilton learned lots, and to him, this was fun,
he waited for Barney to stop,
But this time after eating when Barney flew off,
his wings couldn’t hold him. He dropped!
As he sat on the ground, seeing stars in his head,
he looked up at the troll looking down,
“What happened?” he asked as he rubbed on his hip,
“Why am I here on the ground?”
“My wings they were working, I heard as they buzzed,
but I still didn’t stay in the air.
And look they are flapping, but I am not taking off.
Hamilton, this isn’t fair!”
Hamilton watched the bee jump up and down,
arms raised to the sky that he wanted,
But the ground’s where he stayed no matter how hard,
he screamed, hollered or grunted.

While reading this book to my grandson I was amazed at how much I learned about bumble bees and in such a fun entertaining way. I love the definitions, the Texas Wildflowers pages and no, I had no idea that bees were color blind! Thank you for writing such educational books for young readers!
