Guide Dog Scout
Born with a job
this playful pup
he’ll grow into
as he grows up,
guide dog Scout
will learn to be
Samantha’s eyes
as Sam can’t see.
He’s off to Walker’s
where he’ll stay,
with family
he’ll learn and play.
They walk guide dogs,
it’s what they do
for where they go
they’ll take him too.
He’ll see and smell
and hear what’s new
but must not touch
just like the zoo.
Bosun Hangs His Harness Up
Bosun doesn’t see as well
as when he first met Joe,
a million guiding steps
and eight short years ago.
But he wears his harness
to guide Joe up the street
as Joe is nearly blind
and he has Bea to meet.
Bea the guide dog trainer
is standing in their way
with a younger guide dog,
has Zoey come to play?
For Bosun sniffs hello
then guides Joe to their place
and Bea and Zoey follow
at Joe and Bosun’s pace.
Listen Up Lucky Pup
Mike finds him on the street,
a dog without a home,
collar with a name tag,
he’s been left to roam.
Now he’s at the shelter
where homeless dogs can stay
so he won’t have to worry
he’ll be chased away.
But what will they call him,
they’re looking for a clue,
no-one comes to claim him
so Lonely Pup might do.
No more begging scraps,
no more dodging cars,
no more sleeping rough
though his room has bars.
With other dogs beside him
and more across the way
and a doggy dinner
he settles in okay.
