A large collection of my early poetry, some of which is award winning.
Coming Out of the Closet & Breaking the Chains ( Poetic Views from the other side of a special education classroom) is a collection of poems touching on everything that has touched Ms. Dresser's life, from her experiences and impressions as a young person having to go through the special education system in our country's school system to child and spousal abuse. It touches on a wide range of subjects in life. But at the heart of this huge collection of poetry is a series of poems that bear the title of the book "The Closet." It is here that she gives voice to not only her struggles in school, but to the thousands of young people in school today who struggle in a school system that can't adequately meet their special needs, but also sometimes denies them of basic human rights.

The Horse
"Ride me" said a voice
Coming from a stall.
It's eyes were blood red
And it's breath was icy cold.
The mane on it's back was coarse
and hard. And people came from all
over. They were people with little
belief in themselves desperate to find
a way to escape.
They gave the thing behind the stall a name.
Some called it prejudice.
Some called it sexism.
But, it's origin came from one place
and it only answered to one name
and that name was hate.
Inspirational poetry, written from the heart and soul. Verses that are well-suited for reading on a rainy day and that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
