Rare books and manuscripts go missing from important collections at European universities. Scotland Yard receive a tip from a fence in Amsterdam that leads Inspector George Mason to the British community at Zurich. Assuming the dsguise of an agent for a travel firm, he infiltrates the British community and visits book fairs and bookstores in an effort to track down the missing books. His investigations lead him far beyond the theft of books to a plot aimed at the highest levels of the Italian government. Will Inspector mason foilthe plot? The setting of the novel includes authentic Swiss and Italian background, customs and culture, including interesting visits to local restaurants.
