A brief account of life in Finland, as background to my mystery novel 'The File on John Ormond' (Xlibris)

I spent two years teaching English in Finland and have sought to reproduce the authentic atmosphere of this fascinating country in my detetive novel THE FILE ON JOHN ORMOND. Finland has a strong bath culture. Family groups go together to the sauna and often grill sausages on the sauna stove! There are 60,000 lakes, much forest, and fauna including bears, wolves, foxes and wolverines. Crayfish parties are popular in summer, when the north also sees the midnight sun. Reindeer and elk are common restaurant items. There is a strong artistic tradition, covering music, literature, architecture, textile design, pottery etc. Live in Finland for a while, by reading my novel!
