“I don’t like being lied to,” Rob said firmly, “and you shouldn’t either. There is something very odd going on here, and I think we owe it to ourselves to find out what it is before we get sucked in any further. It’s bad enough that a client drops by to see us and then disappears, leaving us in an extremely awkward position, but I also don’t appreciate the lab being used as a hiding place for what may well turn out to be a murder weapon. Someone is trying to set us up.”
“Not for the first time,” Phil said.
“For what, though?” Ellis asked. “And who?”
“It’s probably the pirates,” Mitch said.
“And while Sly is doing her research,” Rob said, ignoring this comment, “the rest of us can try to come up with a plausible explanation as to why the clothes of Brett Malcolm, whose body was found on dry land near a fresh water lake, should have been soaked in salt water.”
