By definition, fun is a time or feeling of enjoyment or amusement, and retirement is the status of a worker who has stopped working, sorta like a long well-earned vacation. These two definitions go in concert like coffee and doughnuts.
In other and simpler terms, retirement must be like buying admission to an amusement park, or not paying the toll to travel on another freeway. The opposite of work has always been fun. Fun also goes by several aliases, such as enjoyment, pleasure, joy, entertainment, merriment, doing things, and it is absolutely the opposite of workplace monotony. It is the ultimate good time and ‘lotsa fun’ won’t hurt but may become addictive … and that’s a good thing.
