A Different Kind of Ghost Story
I expected this novel to be a take on The Ghost and Mrs. Muir but was pleasantly surprised when the heroine Gabbie Myerson moves into a house with a haunted room and doesn't fall in love with the ghost. Instead she falls in love with his best friend, the chief of police, but she promises the ghost to help find his killer. This is a charming tale in a lovely setting with colorful, believable characters and a satisfying ending. I hope Gabbie will return in future books to solve more mysteries.~~Tricia Lee

Excellent!
Gabbie Meyerson moves in hopes of escaping her own skeletons, but finds that this new town has quite a number of their own. Though she's expecting to live there for a few quiet months before moving on, she's attracted to a sexy police chief, and becomes very involved in small-town politics when an unexpected roommate - the ghost of the man who previously lived in the cottage she's rented - tries to convince her to investigate his murder.
I can't tell you how many times I thought I had this mystery all figured out, but another twist in the story would prove me wrong. The ending was definitely a well thought out surprise. I enjoyed every minute of this book and would really like to see a prequel to find out what had happened to Gabbie to make her move to Long Island - though I think I'd love to see a sequel even more! Fantastic Ghost Cozy
Giving Up Th Ghost by Marilyn Levison was one of the best cozy ghost mysteries I've read. This genre has always been one of my favorites to read and I've read quite a few of them. And this one is right at the top of my favorites list. There were a few mysteries contained within this book, who killed Cam, who killed the bully, who stole the money. These were all woven together very nicely and carried on throughout the entire story. I didn't figure the mystery out until it was revealed at the end, but then neither did the protagonist nor the sheriff, so I don't feel too bad. There were twists and turns along the way to make it very difficult to determine who the murderer was from a long list of suspects. The characters were well developed and true to life and it was easy to care about them, especially Cam, the ghost. He definitely had positive and negative traits, just like we all do. The writing style flowed smoothly and this book was an easy quick read. I always laugh when I read reviews that say "I read this book in one sitting" or " I couldn't put this book down" but for once these sayings described my feelings and they were really true. I would recommend this book to any one who loves a good mystery, and if you love ghost cozies that is an extra reason to read this book. I sure hope Giving Up The Ghost is the start of a new series, one that will last for a long time.~~M.Brown
