Romance, suspense, love, great food, a touch of the paranormal, conspiracy, tragedy, mystery, family tradiitions, murder, the Knights Templar, politics--all woven seamlessly into this thrilling regency romance that takes place between memebers of the English Aristocracy of wealth and power and anciently ruling highland clans of Scotland.

Romance, suspense, love, sex, great food, a touch of the paranormal, religious secret societies, history, mystery, marriage, tragedy, family traditions, conspiracy, tlhe Knights Templar, murder, and politics--all are seamlessly woven into this thrilling regency historical romance that  takes place between members of the English aristrocracy of wealth and power and powerful highland clans of Scotland.

Geographical locations and conditions in both countries in which this story takes place still exist today. Families mentioned still exist and have descendants in unbroken lines to the present time, even though the characters in this story are fictional.

Fiery, flame-haired, green-eyed Arabella lives in terror by night.  She is tortured by fearsome nightmares of being murdered by a faceless apparition tjhat wrench her from sleep, screaming in fear.  By day, she is determinted to forge her own future in spite of the necessity to marry soon and marry well because her beloved mother is ill with tuberculosis and may die.

A mysterious man, far too handsome and far too charmingly insolent, waylays Arabella on a dark balcony at a ball with a laugh and lazy baritone innuendoes that rouse her sleeping senses in a very disturbing, but intriguing, fashion. She finds herself pitting her independent spirit and mental agility against the effect his self-assured nearness has on her--and barely holds her own, not that she would ever admit is to him! (But oh, "the sweet surrender," she admits to herself).

Arabella does not know that upon meeting her, he finds his blood set on fire and that she drives him almost mad with desire. He is determined to capture her and take to his castle in the remote Scottish highlands where he is lord and master of an ancient and powerful clan. (There is something about her. . .") Just what are his undeclared intentions?

What neither of them know, as yet, is that a psychotic killer who prowls the nights in the darkened streets of London and in the remote reaches of the Scottish highlands will murder them both at the earliest opportunity.  Why? WILL HE SUCCEED?

Read "Captivated by an English Earl", Elizabeth Key's first book in the cliffhanger series, Regency Romance Trilogy, to find out!

Excerpt

"May I have this dance?" Nicholas asked, extending is left arm.

"No, you may not!" Arabella hissed.

"Ara!", Ginny gasped. "Forgive my friend, milord. She is very tired from all the dancing. It seems to have muddled her senses."

"I am not," Arabella began crossly.
Nicholas took her arm and gently led her to the dance floor.

"You are too soft-hearted to give me the the cut in front of everyone," he remarked in her ear.

"I may still change my mind," she said warningly.

Nicholas laughed. "I do not think so," he stated with a twinkle in his eye that told her he saw through her bluff with ease.

"Oh, wonderful," Arabella muttered.

"Do not look so forlorn, my dear, or it will be remarked upon." He grinned, softly placing his hand onto her waist.

Her skin burned under his touch. Confused, she looked at their clasped hands as they twirled. As Nicholas led her through the steps of the Viennese waltz, holding her just a littel closer than necessary, Arabella became aware of a subtle aura of scent emanating from her partner. He smelled faintly of his personal musk, Scottish pine, and an unidentified men's cologne, all enhanced by his close proximity, the ease of his movements, and the warmth of his body.

Arabella's knees grew weak as waves of arousal began coursing through her emotions and body, unbidden and unwelcome. Try as she might, there was nothing she could to to divert her thoughts from her physical reaction to this agressive man she was dancing with. She felt as though she had a fever and that she might faint at any moment. She stumbleld, just a little, as she tried to bring her breathing back to normal without being detected. She just could not let Nicholas know of the effect he had on her! It would be too embarrassing and she knew also that he would love taking advantage of it at every opportunity, just to watch her reactions.

Professional Reviews

Bewteen the English and the Scots there is Love
This is a book that you do not want to miss. A wonderfully written romance that flows smoothly and is amazingly well researched concerning the Scottish culture. I believe its Eros derives from the amazing pen of Elizabeth Key. It is without question the best romance I have ever read. Powerful and yet fun with great humor and skill. The cross cultural affair is pertinent to our current day.

Take a Feisty and Stubbor Red Headed Scotswoman and Add. . .
Take a feisty and sutbborn red headed Scotswoman and add a hunky brooding English Earl, mix in a little romance and the age old battle between the Brits and the Socts and you have an exciting adventure sure to please. Elizabeth Key weaves a tantalizing and engaging tale of history and romance in "Captivated by an English Earl" which leaves you wanting more!
