As I began to walk the long road to healing set before me, I started piecing together the little bits of my two month ordeal that I could still remember. The strokes had knocked me down, way down, and I wasn't sure that I'd even survive. My mind was muddled and my thoughts darted back and forth between knowing I would die and hoping somehow I could manage to live. I was bedridden and broken hearted. Life as I had known it was over for me. I couldn't figure out which way to go or how to make the first step I'd need to in order to put my life back together. Then a light sparked in me... a light that guided me out of the darkness and away from the fear. This is my recovery story... my survivor's tale.
