A recent med school graduiate with healing powers is conscripted by the queen of he fairies to help diagnose and treat a mysterious afliction that has left her kingdom vulnerable to attack by their enemies. The doctor rises to the challenge and returns home.
No sooner than the doctor returns home than an old flame shows up and he turns her world upside down. Together they confront the enemy who had attacked them before once again.
The doctor and his wife start a school for teens with magic powers which leads to another confrontation.
When the doctor's daughter is kidnapped, the powers align to solve this problem for once and for all.

“How was the trip?” Danny asked.
“Delightful. Peg is great. Have you come to a diagnosis?”
“I am not sure. There appear to be two components. There appear to be water-borne bacteria, but there is also a magical component.”
“Have you isolated the two components?”
“Not completely. I think the bacterium is like cholera except not as strong. It causes the intestinal problems and the fever. If it were cholera, we would see deaths, which we have not seen. The magic component is causing the hallucinations. A hallucinating centaur is difficult to deal with.”
“I can imagine! What is your treatment plan?”
“First we have to get them out of the contaminated water.”
“Excuse me?”
“They are standing in the water to get relief from the fever.”
“And drinking the contaminated water and reinfecting themselves?”
“Yes.”
“And they are hallucinating so they aren’t real cooperative.”
“Yes.”
Stacey stopped and scratched her head for a moment. “Do you realize how weird this is? We are standing on a pristine hillside on a place that looks like Earth but is not Earth, under an exquisite sunset on a pleasant evening with a light breeze discussing hallucinating centaurs with diarrhea. Are you not a little freaked out by all this?”
“Well, yeah, I am, but my life has been weird ever since I knew I could fly. I was like nine or ten at the time. You kind of get used to it, sort of, maybe, or maybe not. I don’t know. I try to not think about it.”
