Another 'Winner!
As a huge fan of this author and particularly this series, I was thrilled to see book 4. Another intriguing and compelling story awaited me, catching up with Ben, Dawn, Randy and everyone I have come to know in Winning odds. What I wasn't expecting was to be moved by a plight and cause that was so elegantly wrote, that I put my book down (a first!) and went to the BeadForLife website to research more. I was so moved by their story and the beautiful jewelry, I quickly donated and ran back to my book! :)
Don't misinterpret this to read that the BeadForLife takes over the plot. It is just a wonderful thread in this heartwarming tapestry. Horse lovers will enjoy a great story wrote by someone who clearly knows her way around a barn. I can not wait for book 5 (soon please)
I want to live in this world created by the author!
This newest book from MaryAnn Myers is a fabulous read. We continue on with the story of how a group of people with a common interest regarding racing and horse welfare come together at difficult times and face the realities of life. Although this is fiction, it feels real to me because Tom, Randy, Dawn, Ben, and all the other characters are people who we can and do like.
Tough times face Junior and he turns to Ben who gives him some tough love education/adviced. Ben practices his tough love approach and it seems as though anyone who is around Ben becomes a better person. I am often left to wonder if Ben is modeled after a very influential person in this authors life...someone who helped give this author the shining spirit and writing ability by making her be better than she would have been on her own.
I must say...I eagerly await Book 5 to see how Junior does with his horses (hint to our Winning Odds author -- those of us in your fan club want some secret short story release read days so we can have our fix of these characters between books).
If you enjoy horse racing fiction, compassionate characters who truly love their horses, real world situations and a story told by a very good author -- this is the book for you. Get it today and if you have not read the other three books...make sure you pick them up as well.
Excellent Continuation of the Winning Odds Series
It was so easy to get back into the lives of the wonderful characters that are a part of the Winning Odd Series. I read it in two days, and that was only because other things in life got in the way. MaryAnn Myers is able to develop all the characters to such a degree, that I expect to go to Meg's Meadow someday and meet them. I didn't realize I was at end of the book until I turned the page (on my Kindle) and there was no more! It made me sad that I was through reading it. It is a cliffhanger of an ending, and I hope the author is busy on the next sequel. I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
I recommend this book for everyone that is interested in a feel good, yet realistic look at life at a racetrack, and those that enjoy reading stories involving horses. Honestly, even if you aren't that interested in racetrack or Thoroughbred horses, give this series a chance just to enjoy the wonderful characters that are involved in their care
