The Endless Battle has four parts: Marriage and the slide, which introduces Eugene's lease of life after wedding Fresher. The marriage starts with a bang and the couple exults in their companionship. With the lapse of time, Fresher discovers that Eugene is obsessed with writing and publishing. Her attempts to urge him to diversify his investment hits the wall. Madam Victorine, Fresher's cousin and sworn enemy returns to Kenya and launhes a number of schemes to bring down Eugene and Fresher. Some immigrants employ hybridity and others, fixity to fight dicrimination in Somalia. Eugene is so internally fragmented that he suffers intimacy issues. The animosity drives him out of Somalia back to Mandera where he is alomost killed by Alshabaab militia on bus. His mastery of the shahada saves him from the muzzle of the gun.
