The farmer carefully planted the seeds. These are very special seeds. Seeds that will grow to be great orange pumpkins.
Many of the pumpkins will end up as pumpkin pie, and many more will become happy decorations for that great pumpkin holiday that we all call Halloween.
Since the seeds are very special, some of the pumpkins that grow from the seeds are also very special.
Some of these pumpkins, the most special of the pumpkins, will make a home for a beautiful, happy little Happy Spirit.
These special pumpkins will carry on the tradition of the Happy Spirit in the Pumpkin.
Early in the season all the little green sprouts push up through the dark soil of the farmer’s field. The baby vines enjoy the warm sun and soon spread across the pumpkin patch and grow stronger every day. Soon great orange blossoms begin to show their beautiful faces to the world.
These great orange blossoms grow to become the pumpkins that the farmer so carefully tends. Most of the pumpkins are content just to enjoy the warm sun, and the occasional bath from a gentle rain.
Season after season the seeds sprout, push out beautiful blossoms, then grow to great orange pumpkins that ripen, and then give their seeds back to the farmer to begin another year.
But each year a few of the pumpkins are different. Some of the pumpkins—the very special pumpkins—can sense that they have a treat inside.
Some of them feel the Happy Spirit.
