New qualified as a horticulturalist, Cathy Murdoch receives an offer to restore part of the local chateau garden and finds that the offer is not all she believes it to be.
Cathy Murdoch is spending the summer in her mother's childhood home, the ancient French town of Chinon, on the banks of a sleepy tributary of the River Loire. When she receives an offer to restore part of the local chateau garden to its former glory, she jumps at the chance, as garden designing is her intended speciality. However, Cathy finds that her holiday is anything but relaxing. Intrigue and a man called Luc soon come to fill her time... Can she trust her heart not to rule her head?
Excerpt
Cathy crept nearer and nearer, and then jumped back as she saw them. The land agent, Dupont - and Luc. The latter was muddy, as though he'd been digging, and the door to the mausoleum was half open. Dupont looked his usual self, except that he was gesticulating wildly in the direction of the house. Cathy strained to hear the urgent conversation, Then she caught a few snatches. 'You have to. Now. I'll take you to your car. Shut it up!'
Cathy watched in horror as the two men struggled to close the heavy door, while the peaceful angels looked on as if nothing was happening to violate the sacred place they guarded.
