I loved this story. Spellbinding! Keeps the reader turning the pages. Great story for teens and young adults. Or even for the more seasoned reader. Emma Carrie weaves the story of Emily's unforgettable journey of self discovery as she flees the dark secrets of her past...Is she ready to come out of the shadows or will they drag her back to the darkness?

An exciting start for a promising series. The chapters are short and keep you wanting to flip through the pages at lightning speed. This sci-fi would make a great book for even the most reluctant reader--boy or girl.

The characters felt nicely developed without detracting from the plot. Their backstories were teased just enough I want to know more! Can't wait for the next one in the series.

I do love it when a book exceeds my expectations. Out of the Shadows did just that and more! A story that mixes science fiction with faith, I suspect many a young reader will love this exciting start in a promising series. Plus with shifting perspectives between a young teenage girl and female detective, this really is for everyone. The author packs emotion and suspense throughout the book, with us the readers constantly on the edge of our seat waiting to see what happens and who (or what) Emily is. From the very first chapter, I was enthralled with the world of Emily Brelin and Victoria Tacket. Vick was such a well-rounded, intriguing character and I’d love to know more about her past. The writing style was effortless and I was honestly really happy with the length of the book, because it made for such an easy read. Perfect for this snowy winter day. I recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre!
