We first met Timmy and his hilarious ‘companion’ Little Fart in THE DAY MY FART FOLLOWED ME HOME. Now this new little charmer of a book is so well written (and illustrated by Danko Herrera) that though written for children it will probably become an adult favorite pick for bedtime stories for the family. This version adds a new dimension - teaching in a fine manner the experience of going to the Dentist as a happy healthy experience rather than one of dread and fear. Everything has rewards. Timmy must have a tooth removed and takes his friend Little Fart with him. We sense the distress but soon see the positive aspects of the outing as the reward for going through a dental extraction is a visit from the Tooth Fairy – all told with a fine warm sense of humor.

Aside from the entertainment and laughs the book presents, there are lessons about life’s realties and relationships and friendships with professional people on whom or health depends that make the book a solid winner – both for fun and for learning. Timmy and his best friend are together again. This time it's a trip to the dentist. Timmy awakens and knows there is something wrong with a tooth in his mouth. His mother makes an appointment for the dentist, who promptly explains his tooth is loose and will have to come out. The upside, the dentist explains will be a visit from the tooth fairy who will leave a nickel in exchange for the tooth. Cute book that explains a simple rite of passage, loosing one's teeth. Done with humor, it is a great way to talk about an upcoming trip to the dentist or the inevitable visit from the tooth fairy.

Timmy and his best friend Fart are back; this time Timmy has a sore wobbly tooth and his mum tells him he needs to see the dentist.

The three of them set off together. Fart is surprised when the dentist removes Timmy’s tooth and wonders what he is going to do with it. Timmy tells him about the tooth fairy and putting his tooth under his pillow.

Fart is intrigued and wants to stay awake to see the tooth fairy, but will he manage to stay awake long enough to see her, or will he fall asleep?

‘The Day My Fart Followed Me To The Dentist’ is one of a collection of books by Ben Jackson and Sam Lawrence about Timmy and his imaginary friend Fart. We previously reviewed ‘The Day My Fart Followed Me To Hockey‘.

All the books are beautifully illustrated with bold, bright colours and have a cartoon look to them. They are certainly eye-catching.

This book at only 28 pages is a bit shorter than the previous one, but that didn’t take away the enjoyment, or mean that Fart got up to less mischief.

I can see kids loving the idea of having a smelly fart as a best friend. The story is engaging and entertaining from beginning to end. Another great book in an already popular series.
