Will their love blossom regardless of the freezing weather or will tragedy grip Erik's heart in its icy clutches?
Aria spends her days living in a small one bedroom apartment on Jekyll Island with her adorable cat, Salem. Every day, she lives out her dream creating new paintings and selling them to customers online. Despite all of this, however, she still feels as though she is missing something. One crisp December morning, she meets a man on the beach by chance. Erik, a handsome Korean man, is visiting the island for Christmas.
Will their love blossom regardless of the freezing weather or will tragedy grip Erik's heart in its icy clutches?
Excerpt
We walk together through the historic district, holding hands and
looking at the old cottages, now alight with beautiful Christmas
light sand adorned with wreathes and brilliant red bows. The stars are already
out and I look up at the sky as we walk, thinking about how lucky I
am to have someone like Erik by my side, to finally have someone to
spend Christmas with. I think about his present, hidden in the closet of
my small apartment, about how his eyes will light up when he sees what
I've made for him.
He holds my hand tighter now, stopping us in the middle of the
walkway.
"Aria," he says, almost whispers as he pulls me toward him, clasping
my face in his hands, "Please don't push me away," he says, kissing me gently.
I kiss him back, holding onto him tightly, hoping, praying for this
moment to never, ever end. Our kisses become more passionate, and I
can barely even feel the cold around me from the warmth in my heart.
"Let's go back to my place," I whisper in his ear. He nods once and we
walk hurriedly back to the truck, back to my apartment, to the warmth
we'd always wished we had, always dreamed about. All those days spent
alone, spent begging, praying for something real, for the end of suffering
all alone in the dark, are all over now. Now we have something real, something
tangible, something true. Now we have each other.
