Sometimes it's interesting how people remember you. maybe it's just a small case of fame and fame in a small circle for the most part. Bein really famous looks like a total drag to me. Better to be well known as a bit of a character with family and friends than to end up being owned by the world.
In this case, what was remembered, was not so much a guy in a black hat, but simply the black hat itself.....
My son wants you to adopt him! I don't want to part with him so I'll just buy him your book and see if that will pacify him! And if I can pry the tome from his grease-stained hands, I'll read it myself because it sounds intriguing!

Jay, I had to come visit your site and now I find that you and my husband would probably get along famously! You have experienced an icon of Americana that most only dream about.
