A high school senior and his best friend get kidnapped by a torturous woman named the Skeleton Lady. Will they make it out alive?

Oliver Adams and Kayte Westin have been best friends since the first grade, when Kayte stood up against Oliver’s bully, earning his undying loyalty. The two are neighbors and are now attending their small town of Adairsville, Georgia’s local high school together, counting down the days until summer vacation. Oliver and Kayte both have feelings for one another besides simply friendship, however neither of them have been able to summon the strength required to confess their true feelings.
One day, when the two friends are walking home together after school, they hear a chilling scream from a nearby alley. Kayte rushes to investigate the noise and Oliver follows behind her, making sure Kayte doesn’t get into any trouble. As they come to the alley, Oliver and Kayte notice something strange- there is no one around, and the alley is completely desolate.
Suddenly, everything goes black and Oliver and Kayte awake in separate rooms, chained to old beds and surrounded by concrete walls, floors, and ceilings.
The Skeleton Lady, a terrifying woman with brilliant red eyes and an extremely thin, skeleton-like figure, has captured the two friends. The Skeleton Lady, along with her sidekicks, Sally and Button, torment the two friends, giving them new names and makeovers, slowly turning them into her own creations, dragging them further and further away from humanity and into her own sick and twisted world of selfishness and pain.
All of this changes, however, when on Oliver’s birthday, the Skeleton Lady allows him to see Kayte for the first time since they were kidnapped. Having all but forgotten their previous lives, it takes the two a moment before they even recognize each other. Once their memories come flooding back and they finally confess their attraction for one another, Oliver and Kayte realize they must escape The Skeleton Lady’s lair.
Driven by their love for each other, the two must use their mental and physical strength to escape the clutches of their captors.
Will their love be enough to break the grasp of their tormentor’s clutches, or will they die trying? Find out in this exciting tale filled with twists and turns at every corner.

Excerpt

My, dear, you look awful," the Skeleton Lady says, walking into
the room with a look of mock pity on her face. "Thanks," I
say, looking at her with as much hatred on my face as I can manage in
my current state. The Skeleton Lady shakes her head and clucks her
tongue, walking towards me. "My dear, Allison, that is not the attitude
of a proper young lady," she says, swinging her hand backwards and then
slapping me with it as hard as she can. "AAHHHH!" I cry out in pain
as new welts quickly begin to form on my already pain-stricken face. "A
young lady does not scream," she says calmly, slapping me again. I
clench my teeth tightly and my eyes water from the pain. "Now be a
good girl and say you're sorry," she says, moving so that her terrifying,
snow white face is just inches from mine.
I take the opportunity to spit in her face. "Fine," she says, wiping the
spit off of her face. "I was just trying to help you," she says, standing up
straight again. "Help me how?" I say, teeth clenched. "Well, Oliver will
never love you the way you are now." "Oliver?" "Yes. I've been studying
the two of you for... quite a while now. I see how you look at him, the
love that's shining in your eyes... but you're too rough around the edges,
my dear. Oliver has always liked sweet, beautiful girls, soft and demure.
The fact of the matter, Kayte, is that you are ugly. Your features are too
sharp and you're too outspoken. Really, I'm only trying to help you."
"Oliver," I mumble, suddenly thinking of him. I remember his shaggy
brown hair his mom used to beg him to cut, his deep olive green
eyes, his long nose that's somehow still cute, his thin lips I always wanted
to kiss... Then I think of myself. I think about how rough and brash
and pushy I am, how short and ugly my hair is, how I don't look like
the girls in the magazines and how Oliver has never looked at me the
2
way he looks at the other girls- the pretty smiling girls who aren't broken
down, fighting a war inside their head...
