"Beneath the Paler Sun" is a collection of poetry written during the life of Indiana poet Lori S Maynard. Poetry inspired by natural disasters, war, broken and full hearts, an incurable illness and even life with a traveling carnival. There is always hope...always a light.
We have all felt a little hopeless sometimes... We've felt as though the sun had stopped shining for us. There are some flowes that give their blooms to the moon. "Beneath the Paler Sun" is a book of poetry revealing the shadows that we may find ourselves in. Even in darkness, a light will always shine. Even in the darkest of night's hours, there are flowers that thrive and bloom because they've not given up and sought comfort in the moon.
Lori Maynard grew up in the original Small Town USA, Alexandria, IN. She has enjoyed being in several publications as well as winning numerous awards for her works. Poetry was always one of Lori's greatest passions in life. After being diagnosed with severe Gastroparesis in 2015 (incurable), she has re-wroked some of her poetry and other projects to present to the world.
Excerpt
Who Am I?
Who am I you seem to see?
Full of vision? Full of dreams?
Or am I a creature of hideous lore?
Worthy of only pain and nothing more.
Ah, world... I am no longer me!
I am a vision you cannot see!
I am a whisper upon deaf ears.
I am blind eyes too dry for tears.
Rumor without truth in a world of lies.
I'm nothing to no one, what a surprise.
Life is a bully and I am a fly's wing
being pulled into submission too injured to sing.
My soul has shattered and wafted into the breeze.
Prayer has flooded my soul and bruised my knees.
Hands clasped as words received to my God above.
I am one lost soul I feel that, not even, He can love.
