Jake Jensen slipped on his sunglasses and walked out of the Skylight Bookstore into the Los Angeles night. He turned left and headed down Vermont Boulevard. A lanky man in his mid-twenties with
deliberately tousled hair and a carefully unshaven face hurried after him.

“That was awesome,” he called out, trying to jockey a position next
to Jake while maneuvering the broken sidewalk and avoiding those walking up the street. “The Dresden is just a few doors down. Sheila will meet us there.”

Good professional reviews. Took in a conference in downtown LA in the late 1960s. Looking for excitement, found that the streets were rolled up at night. Found only a little bit of weirdness and no restaurants on the street , unlike San Francisco in those days. I'm enjoying Snowfall right now. How crack got started… The fictionalized story of a real character called Snowflake.
