Looking for a great summer read? I loved "Mr. R: A Rock & Roll Romance" by Tracy Neis ... This modern retelling [of "Jane Eyre"] surprised and delighted me ... I liked that in this version of the story, the mad wife is someone we come to care about, and who is worthy of Mr. R's love ... For me, I know a book is great when I don't want it to end, and can't stop thinking about it after I've finished. That's what happened when I read "Mr. R." What I really liked was how the characters were re-imagined as products of the time in which "Mr. R" is set (it spans the 1970s and 80s) ...The novel sticks fairly close to the original, and yet there are some fantastic new additions in there ... "Mr. R" kept me entertained; I'd certainly recommend this one to Brontėites.
