“Fiona, time to wake up.” Mike, my husband, smiles down at me. His left hand still grips the handle of the raised canopy of the cold sleep chamber. In his right hand, he holds a steaming cup. “Here. It’s a warm protein drink. Take the whole thing. I’ve set the pre-warm sequence on Embry’s chamber. She’ll be hungry when she wakes up.”
I look at my child’s sleep chamber, anchored next to mine. The frosted canopy slowly clears to reveal our six-month-old daughter inside. “Is she all right?”
