At the top of the stairs, I felt around for the light switch. When cobwebs stuck to my hand, I let out a squeal. But, indeed, I did find the switch. Would it light? Crossing my
fingers behind my back, I flipped the switch. At the same moment the bare light bulb lit, a flash went off in my mind.
There is no fireman coming for me in the morning because he didn’t call anyone.
No one knows I’m here.
