What’s REALLY hiding in the forests of the Pacific Northwest? Could it be The Tyrant King’s army of Darkbrands? Could it be more of Mr. Jones’s liaisons? Or could it be the solution to the problem vexing our favorite heroes? Whatever mystery it is, you can guarantee the boys from Georgia are sure to find themselves deep in the thick of it.
Somehow, Julian, the unorthodox Synergist Knight and his trusty Master Dragon, Rome, must figure out a way to remedy the curse that stripped them of The Great Synergy. They need their powers returned to have any hope at stopping The Tyrant King’s inevitable invasion of Earth. With the threat level rising along with the Talisman count, Rome, Julian, and their growing list of allies are in a race against time. And if they want to close the portals to The Void for good, they are going to need some help from an very unlikely source as old as the woods themselves.
Excerpt
Could it really be possible that Rome found himself stuck in his human form, with his dragonic powers completely stripped of him, and trapped on another arduous airplane flight? It seemed comical to him that every adventure seemed to predicate itself on traveling by one of man’s archaic flying machines. And, of course, Julian did his best to fill the hours with adventurous anecdotes and Darkbrand encounters. However, this time Julian’s rantings were not banging around in Rome’s ear, but rather directed to his newfound cousin, Jericho Rider.
Our heroes, Rome and Julian met Jericho a little over two days ago when he and his Master Dragon, Clay Andreas tried to kill them and take the Talismans from Rome’s party. It was not really Jericho and Clay’s fault though because they were under the influence and possession of a Nocturn at the time. They had apologized for their actions more times than Rome could remember, but as most dragons know, actions speak louder than words. To Rome, the fact that both Earth warriors had volunteered to basically bodyguard the boys on this latest mission to find a new Talisman proved their sincerity more than a million requests for forgiveness.
Honestly, it was nice to have them along. Clay Andreas was as stoic and silent as an Earth dragon might stereotypically be portrayed. That made him an excellent Yin to Julian’s maniacal, conversational Yang. And with Jericho around, Rome was given a small reprieve from Julian’s incessant jabbering because Julian focused most of his good intentions on his elder cousin, Jericho. This gave Rome a much-needed break to do some soul-searching and wrestle with his current feelings. And since the boys’ Talisman had been cursed, Julian was not constantly in Rome’s head perceiving his thoughts. Allowing himself to ponder his recent emotions without the concern that Julian may be watching on the spatial linking gave him peace.
