Included at the end of this publication are 21st-century guidelines for slate roof installation, repair, and restoration as published by the Slate Roofing Contractors Association of North America, Inc., as well as excerpts from Jenkins’ own 2016 Slate Roof Bible (3rd edition).

FOREWORD 2020
It is with great pleasure, honor, and humility that I bring back into print the classic "Slate Roofs," published in January 1926 by the then nascent "National Slate Association" (page 84). Although I adapted the title to be more compatible with a 21st century readership, and I made some corrections and stylistic changes, almost all the information is presented exactly as in the original publication, even anachronistic references. For example, in my 52 years in the slate roofing industry, I never heard of or saw a "flat slate roof" other than in this publication (page 64). However, this book contains a wealth of information on which today's modern slate roofing industry is based. It therefore remains a valuable addition to the library of anyone interested in roofing, construction, architecture, and history. Included at the end of this publication are 21st century guidelines for slate roof installation, repair, and restoration as published by the Slate
Roofing Contractors Association of North America, Inc., as well as excerpts from the 2016 Slate Roof Bible 3rd Edition.
