Sandi Diaz has a problem with his wife taking in a stray dog. The animal disrupts his life and when he seeks the help of a low-level underworld figure, he invites even more trouble than he bargained for. And when he learns the truth about a disturbing myth involving a race of dog-men seeking to continue their bloodline with a human female, his family will never be the same again.
Sandoval Diaz is a successful lawyer living in the Seattle suburbs with his wife, Doreen. The middle-aged couple have given up hope of having a family after many years of fruitless attempts to get pregnant. Trouble begins when Doreen lets a stray dog into the house. Sandi is uncomfortable from the start, as the animal acts aggressively toward him. Wanting to rid himself of the four-legged houseguest, while not dirtying his own hands, he seeks the help of an old schoolmate who he knows is involved in the criminal underworld. He contracts Brance, who is a Native American, and an associate to kill to the dog. While they agree to perform the deed, they intend to do more, robbing and killing the couple in process. At the same time, Brance and his partner, who work as illegal geoduck (clam) harvesters for a drug cartel, are being hunted by cartel assassins for selling some of the product on the side for their own profit.
The fuse is lit when it is revealed that the dog is actually a hybrid of canine and human, and he is the alpha in a pack of five dogs, all male, the last of their kind. To survive, they need to mate with a human female who is a direct descendant of the original bloodline that created them. They found what they were searching for in Doreen, and just as the Dog Man and his followers make their move, Brance and his partner arrive at the lawyers home. All hell breaks loose when a group of heavily armed assassins from the cartel track the two men to Sandi’s house, where man and beast dig in for a winner-take-all battle.

Outside, in the section of woods behind the Denny-Blaine estate, the other dog men waited, tired, hungry, and horny as hell. There were only four of them, a pack with no females, and they knew of no others of their kind existing anywhere in the world. They were it. That’s why what was taking place inside the big house was so important. Once the pack’s alpha began mating with the woman, they would be signaled by their leader to join him in a last-ditch effort to repopulate their race.
They bided their time hunting for small game, a little playful wrestling, and sleeping. But mostly sleeping. It used up too much energy to hunt and play, energy they did not have, and wanted to save for mating.
They were dirty, they smelled bad, and they were scrawny compared to Delta, the alpha in the group, who always ate first and as much as he wanted until he was sated. He may as well have been king, there were no others who could even challenge him for that position. However, not all of the remaining dog men were happy to wait.
