Time Quest is associated with my novel series on Amazon, The Creation of Xyphus, of which, the first book has been published.
It's necessary for both of these stories to be written in tandem as they cross paths several times.
After losing his well-regarded tenure at Verkeley, Dr. Pherringer began work on his late father's quantum theories, trying to prove that a sub-layer of space exists as his father had theorized.
His first experiment fails catastrophically, though it does lend him a clue. A clue that opens up a door that he did not expect.
He soon realizes that time travel can be possible, and begins working on another experiment.
Meanwhile, he must deal with living with a foreign exchange student in the heart of San Fransisco in 1987.
Dr. Pherringer will go on to prove equations that lead to a new type of weapon of mass destruction, which then leads to the destruction of humanity.
Well, almost. He will also prove that time travel is possible and devise a plan to save humanity.
A grand adventure with colorful characters, unavoidable romance, and involvement with the 14th Street gang. A hopeful, but grim tale of a man coming to grips with his destiny, riddled with sacrifices and life-or-death risks.

P.S.: While doing research for this story, I stumbled upon a show called, Hooperman. It only had two seasons, getting canceled for Doogie Howser, but it's really good. It has John Ritter, and so many faces I recognize, but don't remember names. I somehow get the feeling that it was ahead of its time....[[|:-)

Tobias stared at the blinking orange underscore cursor on the monitor. He had but to type 'run' and press 'Enter', and the latest experiment would come to life. He gave a short sigh and rubbed his eyes with curled forefingers, careful not to bump off his bifocals.
He was extremely exhausted, having stayed up late fine tuning the equipment. It wasn't like Tobias to break his sleeping routine of going to bed at 9:00 PM every night. This experiment meant everything. If it worked, it would be the most prolific scientific breakthrough since the discovery of DNA. It would revive his clandestine career.
He re-positioned the glasses, setting them back into the deep wells on either side of his nose. "I better record this moment!" he exclaimed out loud.
Tobias thrust with his legs to wheel the business chair along the plastic desk mat over to the large desk to the right. There sat his old tape recorder. A Filips EL3312 circa 1966; the first of its kind. He could remember buying it as he was attending Auxford for his third doctorate; a degree in astrophysics. It gave him such excitement as it would save a considerable amount of time with his studies. He pulled the microphone closer and pressed 'Record' and 'Play' at the same time.
"Dr. Pherringer's log... ugh, what day is it even?" He looked down at his antique watch through the bottom lens of the bifocals. "It is—" he started, having to look at the watch again, "It is December 7th, 1987. The time is—" he sighed, frustrated with the fact that he had to look at the watch yet again.
"It's 4:37 AM. I am about to attempt the first run of my latest experiment." He quickly whipped his head toward the shoulder-mounted camera which sat upon a tripod. It's record indicator light was off. His head drooped as he exhaled another sigh. He cleared his throat and stood up, "Maybe I should go rest first." He wasn't about to stop now. Too much was on the line.
