The base game is a table-top game of Napoleonic era sailing ship battles. My rules add random and real events to enlarge player experience and enjoyment.

These variant rules provide additional play options for not only FC, but for all and any Age of Sail board games. For small action games, like Close Action, historical context is added from other Operational and Strategic games. The players have a better understanding of the world they are 'living' in and the possibility of Random Events from that outside world to make life interesting.

Excerpt

These variant rules provide additional play options for not only FC, but for all and any Age of Sail board games. For small action games, like Close Action, historical context is added from other Operational and Strategic games. The players have a better understanding of the world they are 'living' in and the possibility of Random Events from that outside world to make life interesting.

For larger games, like 1805 Sea of Glory, players have the option of using ship specific details like crew tasking and quality, small arms fire, maneuver types, and fatigue. Games will last longer, but results will be more specific and realistic.

I have borrowed ideas and concepts from three games that I own, the two above, plus Flying Colors, plus 89 others. Those others were modules of the Vassal game system. Each was scanned for likely additions for these variant rules. No actual rules were copied, but the spirit of the rules in context were borrowed to enrich game-play for all. Indeed, owners of any Age of Sail game will find these variant rules can bring challenge and issues to their gaming worth experiencing.
