Vanessa moves back with her mother when her father dies, and their strained relationship nearly breaks. A chance encounter with Xavier Johnson provides a vehicle for Vanessa's mother to do some matchmaking. Because of her unwillingness to accept Vanessa's father's death, Jackie follows through with a plan that takes them to Australia and deep into the mystical Aboriginal Dreamtime.
