The scene at Willowmena Wolcotts penthouse was classic destruction. News cameras were already recording the event for history when Nick pulled up to the sight. A massive hole at the top of the building had all cameras turned upward, toward the twelve story high rise. The top of the building was connected by four pillars, extending up from the ceiling of the eleventh floor.
An artful piece of work, by constuction standards, a death note to anyone that may have been near it at the time the explosion occurred. Debris was scattered throughout the street and the surrounding yards for about a half mile radious. Nick saw Willowmenas bath room sink in the middle of the street as he turned the last corner before reaching the scene. As he made his way through the throng of onlookers, firemen, and police, the body count was the only remaining point to be considered.
He knew Willowmena hadn't been there. She and Jacobs were meeting up at big bear. Unless she had unexpectedly returned, she was safe more than ninety miles away. That gave Nick some relief. She'd escaped the tentacle of death, that had surely been laid by Ray Bontowski. The artful destruction of the entire top floor of her building, had to have been done by a pro. This wasn't done by someone falling asleep with a lit cigarette. Bontowski had the connections to call in a professional, and have the job done right, and in such a way to send a definitive message.
