Adjusting to a new sibling can be difficult, as found in this story. Only as time goes on, does the big brother begin to accept and appreciate what a new baby can bring to his life.
Mom always had time for her son, until the new baby was born, then she spent her time 'feeding and changing, and wiping his eye.' At first the new baby was an unwelcomed stranger who could "go home with Uncle Ned. He's so little he can't even weed the garden bed."
The older sibling thinks of all kinds of ways to rid himself of this little intrudet, including, "I'd would climb to the very top of the very highest tree and leave him there to live wiht the birds, if it were up to me."

Lacey had a pair of jeans she couldn't live without, when they became worn so badly, her mother turned them into a unique gift for her.
Lacey is a young girl who loved her jeans. She wore them everywhere, 'wading through streams', to school, to grandma's. When they became so worn her mother refused to let her wear them, Lacey threw up her arms and said, "These are the only ones for me!"
Mother, being creatvie, came up wtih the perfect solution, to create a little book for Lacey, from her own old jeans. Then they went shopping to purchase a whole new wardrobe for Lacey.
