I woke up with a panicked feeling, for some reason I thought my toes were on fire and after assuring myself that they weren’t, I noticed that the smell of smoke was heavy in the air. Still half asleep, I again looked down at my feet wondering how they could be burning without hurting when the rest of my brain kicked in and I realized that there must be a fire somewhere close. It was still dark out and glancing at the clock let me know it was still a good half an hour before the sun would be up.
