Crossing the Chemo Room
 Paperback

"Crossing the Chemo Room" is the true story of Lonna Lisa Williams who fought a rare type of breast cancer. Journey with her, her family, and her friends as they encounter treatment, anxiety attacks, fear, recovery, and joy of life after cancer--all while learning to reach out to others who also face a life-changing event or know someone who does.

"Crossing the Chemo Room" is my nonfiction cancer survival story. After enduring a tragic childhood (being the only survivor of my immediate family), I got married, divorced, remarried, obtained a Master’s degree, and taught college English. I had children and got a science fiction book published. Then I found out I had a rare form of breast cancer--when my youngest child was just a baby. My doctor called me one in a million. After surgery, a CT-scan, and a bone marrow biopsy, I entered The Chemo Room. I was usually the youngest person there, observing my strange medical world as chemicals se
I Saw You in the Moon
 Paperback

The sequel to "Crossing the Chemo Room" shows what happened to the stories Lonna began--Who lived? Who died? Who had a bone marrow transplant? How did Lonna cope with surviving cancer, the effects of chemotherapy, and the loss of friends?

"Moon" also shows the ongoing adventures of Lonna and her family as they battle doctors, homeschool, evacuate from their burning mountain home, and travel to New Zealand each summer (winter) as their children ski the South Island mountains.

I didn’t care about becoming an expert in anything serious--especially not in an alcoholic childhood, where I was the only one in my family to survive. I didn’t want to grow up and learn about divorce, cancer, or miscarriages. I didn’t need to know what the words “non-hogkins lymphoma, diffuse cell, intermediate grade” meant. I prefer fantasy stories and fairy tales. I’ve been writing those since I was a child--creating amazing new worlds. Nonfiction isn’t nearly as much

 Paperback

Miranda, a teenager from the future where cities are enclosed in domes and there are no trees, journeys back in time to meet her great, great-grandmother Gabrielle who was a 20th century environmentalist. Together the two women reach across time and place to bring trees back to the future.

"Like a Tree Planted" is an environmental science fiction novel about Miranda, a teenager from future San Diego which is enclosed in a Dome because chemicals destroyed the natural world. The daughter of scientists, Miranda is Keeper of The Last Tree which is dying. She is also great-granddaughter of famous twentieth-century environmentalist Gabrielle Leigh who foresaw the trees' destruction. By means of The Archives, a futuristic multimedia library, Miranda studies Gabrielle's life. Each "visit" through The Portal becomes more real, and Miranda gradually materializes in twentieth-century Orego
