A young American woman is working in Cape Town, South Africa when she becomes the victim of an assault which exposes her to the HIV virus. The nightmare of this strengthens her resolve to complete her project of helping Aids orphans in South Africa. Her situation is complicated when she falls in love with a South African man.
In California, her family copes with her abduction and the death of their patriarch, following which shocking secrets emerge. These events test the family's tolerance of each other and their differing beliefs. Some of the cast of characters become victims of external events, while others are victims of their own prejudices.

Set in South Africa during the 1970's, A Telling Tme portrays a group of attorneys trying to challenge the cruel apartheid system. The harrowing events that follow their defense of a Zulu man, pit victims against oppressors, and family members against each other. Charges of torture and murder arise and the future seems bleak as harsh laws separate black families and white families are torn apart by angry differences.
