Harvey, who has always believed that books are magic, can't imagine a day without reading. Where was the internet when I needed it?

Background Information

My influences vary, changing rapidly. My wife has been a constant in the changes. I still read or re-read, The Immense Journey by Loren Eisley, anything by Ray Bradbury, Zen Flesh Zen Bones, Fighting the Flying Circus and old copies of Walt Kelley's Pogo. I believe that Mad Comics helped create my appetite for learning.

When I was six years old I was allowed to have my own library card. I proudly signed up and checked out Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leadues Under the Sea. The librarian, whom I believed to be sent directly from God, doubted I'd understand such a book--made me read it aloud. I was allowed to take the book home.

I was raised in the Canton section of Baltimore Maryland, and reside in Virginia, with my wife Susan. I graduated from California State College, now California University of Pennsylvania. I began teaching biology and earned a master's at Towson State College, now Towson University. After I retired from Anne Arundel Public Schools, I began writing in order to answer the, 'What are you doing now?' question.

Much to my surprise I enjoyed playing with words...and I still do. Every day I find a new perspective and hope to do so until my end.

Birth Place
Uniontown, PA USA
Accomplishments

Biology teacher and school administrator for 31 years. I graduated from California and Towson Universities with a BS and M ed. President of the Hanover Chapter of The Virginia Writers Club.

Additional Information

I have written several novels, Little Sister of War formerly published by Booksunbound.com and now on Kindle Books. Another book, Moonlighyt on the River, is currently unpublished. I recently had published, As The Wind Walks, with Asyslett Publishing. It is now on Kindle Books. Death Takes a Number, is being published by Champagne Books (champagnebooks.com). I intend to write three more novels, all in different genres. I believe that everything I write must be accurate and educational. My intent is to make you misty-eyed and chuckle before you put one of my books down.

As The Wind Walks
A old man tries to tell his great grandson about his Civil War experiences. The boy is eager to join the effort of the impending war in Europe. Each character approaches his service to his country at a young age. The great grandfather enlisted in the Union Army when he was fourteen. In re-telling the events of the war between the states, both great grandfater and great grandson reveal a simularity. Both men meet the love of their lives, two women who help strengthen their characters.

Death Takes a Number
Cain Machinovic, a young homicide detective, is growing weary of dead bodies. His jaded attitude changes with the discovery of Kendra Holland’s lifeless body. When Cain realizes that her death is part of a pattern of sixty years of slaughter, he looks for answers from the past. What he learns is both fascinating and frightening as he closes in on a murderous cult-like killer. He also realizes that there are two murders unaccounted for on the kiler's list, and he knows when and who they will be.
