An old adage warns if you don't know your history, you will be forever condemned to repeat it."Likewise, if you don't know your science fiction, and heed its warnings, you could condemn the Earth to future catastrophe." Kelly Steed

Background Information

I was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1965. Probably the most major influence on my life was being born a clairvoyant. I write extensively about my ghostly encounters, which also colors some of my fiction.

The other major influences in my life include historical reenacting, both Civil War and Revolutionary War, which had a major impact on my decision to become a writer. Reenacting is an incredibly personal experience. Through my writing, I’d like to make people experience history the way I did and have empathy for those who gave their so that we could be free.

Growing up was not easy, there were many problems in our household so I turned to living in a fantasy world centered around a much beloved television series in order to survive the strain. My rock during this period was St. Bartholomew School, which became my childhood home. http://www.stbartschool.org/ If it were not for this school and my wonderful classmates who are my muses, I wouldn’t be able to be an author! I plan to write a series of children’s novels set at the school utilizing composite characters. It’s my way of giving the school something back.

Mrs. Claudia Odefer, my English teacher at St. Clement High School in Centerline, MI, told me that I could be a professional writer if I just applied myself. I wasn't always careful with my grammar. Her faith in me stuck with me through rejections and ill treatment by so-called family and friends when I announced that I was going to pursue writing full-time. For some reason, most people don’t consider writing real work. I’ve seen this same sort of thing echoed on other writer’s webpages and wrote an article about it entitled “The Look”. It can be found on the Writer Advice page on The Steed Zone http://home.att.net/~s.c.ninlil.c.b

Lastly I must mention William Golding, my spiritual guide and protector, who has always stood by me.
