As Sandra Smith, I write non-fiction articles.

I used to do bead work as a hobby, then began selling my creations at craft shows. Eventually, I started designing my own patterns. I submitted some of these to a crafts magazine, and they became my first published articles.

As time went on, I did more writing than crafting, and started writing articles about anything that caught my interest. I've been published in a couple of national magazines, but mostly focus now on small regional publications.

I've compiled many of my articles into a small book titled Bewitched, Bedazzled, and Bejeweled: A Collection of Facts and Folklore About Gems and Jewelry. It's available as a Kindle download. ASIN: B001F0RSTK

Like most writers, I dreamed of writing a novel. I have completed four novels to date, the second of which, Jenny's Legacy, was published in hardcover in 2006, ISBN: 978-1594144332; and as an e-book in 2008, 978-1-59431-622-7. It's also now available as a Kindle download: ASIN: B001CQCA3Q

My third novel, Acts of Love, was published as an e-book in December 2008, ISBN: 978-1-59431-639-5; and as a Kindle download: ASIN: B001M1ILKM.

My first completed novel is unpublished.

I use my real name for non-fiction, but chose the pen name Cassandra Barnes for fiction.

Here's my Cassandra Barnes bio: Cassandra Barnes believes in reincarnation, which is good because she has more stories than she can tell in one lifetime. She's kept the wolf from the door with a variety of jobs; any extra money goes for books or flowers. Her current loves include her husband of more than twenty years, her feline twins, the little dog she rescued from the pound, Reiki, herbalism, coffee with friends, and quantum physics. And anything chocolate!        

Jenny's Legacy is a contemporary sweet romance, featuring a psychic heroine. My second novel, Acts of Love, is a blend of cozy mystery/contemporary sweet romance/women's fiction. The heroine is an aromatherapist, who owns two cats; and the hero is a multi-cultural police detective. It's set in the American Southwest. A Perfect Body is a contemporary sweet romance featuring a newspaper reporter and an advertising account executive, both of whom are forced to deal with eating disorders. I've started my fifth novel, a contemporary sweet romance, tentatively titled The Birthday Gift. I anticipate having it ready for publication in 2010.
