Ms. Simpson is an award-winning novelist, Pulitzer Prize competitor, ghostwriter, screenwriter, and blogger. Additionally, Taryn has enjoyed success as a classically trained musician where she performed with various orchestras and artists such as The Tonight Show’s Doc Sevrinson. Simpson was accepted to the University of Texas at Arlington at the age of 12, and was chosen to participate in a master class with famed marimbist . She also auditioned at the at the age of 17. Today, Ms. Simpson has just completed her latest literary effort with her co-writer, Alan Solomon who currently resides in Beijing, China. “The Mango Tree Café, Loi Kroh Road,” is a fictional novel which is garnering rave reviews from readers all over the world. The book was shown at the International Book Fair in Beijing, China, competed for a Pulitzer Prize in the Best Fiction category and was recently designated an award winning novel at the 2008 Indie Book Awards.
Simpson has written/ghostwritten numerous screenplays, books and articles. She and Alan Solomon are collaborating on their second novel tentatively entitled, “He Played the Game.” Her other screenplay, "Conversations with Pearl" garnered attention from a Project Greenlight critic and was featured at the Southern Festival of Books in 2002.
Simpson credits the following for influencing her writing style: John Grisham, Laura Ingalls Wilder and Norman MacLean along with many others.

Her novel she co-wrote with Alan Solomon, "The Mango Tree Cafe, Loi Kroh Road" was shown at the International Book Fair in Beijing, China. Simpson and Solomon have never met nor talked by phone. They have only collaborated via the internet which is a spectactular feat in writing a book. Mr. Solomon is located in Beijing, China and Ms. Simpson lives in Nashville, TN - USA.
The same novel competed for a Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for 2008.
The same novel was designated as an award winning novel at the 2008 Indie Book Awards.
Her screenplay, "Conversations with Pearl" garnered positive praise from a Project Greenlight critic and was featured at the Southern Festival of Books in 2002.
