Bode Osanaiye is a writer whose red blood floods into his pen, dripping with black ink upon white paper; who writes the present's past and yesterday's tomorrow's history - today

Background Information

By the time an author's manuscript is turned down the umpteenth time, he/she is ready to give in, but when Bode Osanaiye, the author of 'A Dream at Night' was invited to Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, by the Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka-Chinua Achebe-funded Association of Nigerian Authors in November, 2009, with, yes, all air fares and hotel expenses paid, he was really amazed, if not shocked. This was because he had written only three chapters of 'A Dream at Night', and it was his first book ever; but at this time, the President of ANA, Africa's largest and most vibrant intellectual association, Dr.Wale Okediran, had already taken cognisance of the "grip" that the first three chapters had on him and had encouraged the young author to hasten steps to complete the novel. First of all, Bode did not know that he could be invited to such a big, prestigious programme as the Atiku Abubakar Literary Project - involving large numbers of Africans, Europeans and Americans alike - as a starter, and besides, Atiku Abubakar, who is the immediate past Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, had his very eyes watchfully fixed on the Project in terms of financial and logistic support. The programme eventually proved to be extremely rewarding and worth the while for the author, and could well be one of the earliest major breaks the author had which truely gave him impetus to write. Bode Osanaiye studied Political Science at Universite des Sciences Applique et Management, Porto Novo, Republique du Benin, graduating cum laude in July, 2008. At age 11, after losing his childhood manuscripts to innocense and carelessness, he decided to take his own destiny in his own hands, rather than in the gods', by being more focused in his writing. His major break, however, came eventually, in November 2009, when he was first noticed by ANA with the writing of his novel, 'A Dream at Night,'his first ever literary toil, which was eventually followed by another novel 'In the Silent Hours of Night', the story about the activity of witches at night, whom he termed 'Queens of the Night'. Bode is primarily inspired by the writings of Soyinka,Ben Okri,Arundhatti Roy,Frantz Fanon and Henry James.
