In 1993, Lisa was working for a large non-profit organization, eager to learn all she could about marketing, fund development and program. But with a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 24, Lisa's career goals of working in the field of social work were jolted--but not for long. She went to the library and came home with three-foot high stacks of books on topics about how to start a non-profit organization, write for magazines, and market herself as an expert in the field of chronic illness ministry and outreach. "Scripture says God gives us more than we can ask or imagine," she says. "In my case it was very true."
Rather than working for a non-profit, she founded one, Rest Ministries was incorporated in 1997, serving people who live with chronic illness or pain. She took full advantage of the marketing opportunities on the internet and started a hard-copy newsletter sent through the postal mail.
Since then, Lisa's newsletter has turned into a consumer magazine, called HopeKeepers, Rest Ministries receives over 70,000 visitors to the web site each month, and they are the founder/sponsors of National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week. Lisa's writing include numerous books on chronic illness for individuals as well as support groups.
As her knowledge base of web design, internet marketing, book promotion and "learning to deal with a small marketing budget" grew, she has shared her experiences and lessons with many others through writers conferences and consultations. She has recently began a new blog YOU CAN SELL MORE BOOKS! featuring daily book marketing tips and promotional ideas and has over 30 ebooks on "50 Ways to ___ to Sell More Books!" Find out how Lisa has sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of her books on very little money.
Send her your best ideas or experiences for marketing your books and if your tip is chosen you will get a free copy of the ebook when it is released!
Lisa's passion has always been the written word and public speaking. From A Woman's Health Resource Journal to a scrapbook for adoptive families to book marketing, all of her passions overlap, each filling a niche and hopefully helping someone else along the way.

Lisa is currently in the process of setting up an article directory of free articles to reprint that are chronic illness related. This is a great opportunity to share your writing talents, book reviews, and press releases, if they are illness related or have an illness "spin" on them. They must be free to reprint. We look forward to providing quality content for everything such as web sites to church newsletters to support group and health organization publications.
