My background is in English Literature and Linguistics. I favored 19th Century Literature because that was the era that saw the advent of the novel. That's when the greats like Charles Dickens, Emily Dickenson and Jane Austen wrote. I also enjoyed learning how language began and the roots of our languages. I pull from all of these areas when I write and feel that having been exposed to great writers as well as having had to analyze their works has done much to make me a better writer.
