I hold several degrees but my most important teachers were travel and reading the likes of W. H. Auden, Elizabeth Bishop, Whitman, Dickinson, Rilke, Milosz, Brodsky, Karin Boye, Muriel Rukeyser, Ruth Stone, Edith Sodergran, Moa Martinson, Marta Tikkanen. I am very interested in Scandinavian writers, woman imparticular. I have published 10 chapbooks and have seen my poems in many journals, and poetic venues. For me Poetry is the concentration of language, a novel that may be written in a few lines with few words. It is this concentration of language that makes the art of the poet, and this is where inspiration, talent and that "awe" that only poetry can have, comes togehter to produce the masterpiece of "WORD". As Auden so wisely states, " Poetry makes nothing happen", in actuality he is correct, but it has the power to transform the soul thus change our vision of the world. It can enlarge us so we may live deeper lives, make us seek a more trancendent meaning, and give courage to us to love, when our current culture tells us to "collect"
